New beach access signs for Reay Mackay Grove tracks

There are two tracks to the beach off Reay Mackay Grove. For some time now there’s been a blue Beach Access post at the beach end of the south track to help people know where the track is. As of today, when Ben Wood, Parks and Property Officer at Horowhenua District Council installed 3 more posts, each track is now clearly marked at both ends.

These new blue posts are bigger and much more visible than the old wooden posts at the roadside, and provide much needed direction for folks on the beach.

Heads up: Ben said the Council is receiving a quantity of spinifex and pingao plants and is hoping to have a community planting morning at Waikawa Beach around the end of August or early September. It should be on a Saturday or Sunday. We’ll let you know once we have a date.
