In 2008 a firm called Corydon Consultants was contracted by the WBRA to survey Waikawa Beach residents. This was to provide information so the Association could respond to planning processes and resource consent applications.
The survey was taken between 21 December 2007 and 28 January 2008. 242 questionnaires were distributed.
The company then produced a printed 17 page report. The report was photographed in February 2020 and is attached below as a PDF.
People valued the natural environment and the undeveloped, low-key style of development, low rates, proximity to Levin and Εtaki and the feeling of safety.
Things people didn’t like were to do with new housing development, vehicles on the beach disrupting the recreational experience for others and damaging the environment, and deterioration in environmental qualities.
