The chip sealing planned for Manakau 17 and 18 January 2021 has been postponed:
Hi all, I’m sorry to bring you this news after building everyone up to expect chipseal roadworks outside on State Highway 1 next week.
Unfortunately, there was some damage to the highway surface this week and repairs will have to be made before the chipsealing can go ahead.
The damage is a result of the hot weather combined with the lengthy queues either side of this week’s accident at Ohau.
There were cars and trucks stationary for a long time on the sealed surface which started to melt to the tyres. The traffic then moved slowly and the surface was roughed up in places. We will need to fix the patches where this happened before resurfacing with new chipseal.
I’ll be in touch with new dates in the near future.
