The Horowhenua District Council advised they would temporarily block off the beach entrance at the end of Manga Pirau Street with concrete blocks. See Horowhenua District Council clarifies vehicle access to beach 19-Oct-21 for details on why.

  1. In The Last 40 Years The River Has Done This Numerous Times. Never Have We Had To Put Blocks Up To Stop Ignorant People Disrespecting The Landowners And Damaging The Land. As A Long Time Permanent Resident At Waikawa Beach , I Am Seeing More And More Of This Self Righteous And Entitled Behaviour. This Really Shows The Calibre Of Some Of The People Moving And Coming Here. Very Disappointing To Say The Least

    Usual residence: Waikawa
